Our Story
In early 2020, I launched my outdoor equipment rental business, Get Lost Rentals. Unfortunately, my timing couldn’t have been worse, my opening day coincided with British Columbia closing outdoor spaces due to the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The following year was a whirlwind of challenges and adaptations as I worked tirelessly to stabilize the business. Eventually, I discovered what seemed like the perfect solution: partnering with a wonderful farming family in Spallumcheen, North Okanagan. They rented me a portion of their farmland, and I developed a small luxury campsite there. It became one of the finest glamping experiences in British Columbia, a peaceful, secluded retreat just minutes from the amenities of Armstrong.
But what happened next was both unexpected and disheartening.

Although I carefully chose the campsite’s location for its blend of tranquility and convenience, word quickly spread among some locals. Despite obtaining all the necessary permissions—from the fire department, Interior Health, the Ministry of Forests, and the Agricultural Land Commission, I faced strong opposition from four nearby residents who didn’t want the site there.

This resistance led to a grueling, year-long process of navigating bureaucratic hoops. The situation culminated in a public hearing to determine the future of my business. The hearing turned out to be one of the most well-attended in the township's history, sparking intense debate among councillors and the public. Yet, no verdict was reached.
While waiting for a resolution, the region experienced one of the worst wildfire seasons on record, with flames coming within nine kilometers of the site. To make matters worse, the fires were followed by a severe storm, which caused extensive damage to the campsite, destroyed tents, snapped poles, fallen trees, and more.

Between the environmental challenges and ongoing opposition from neighbors, I made the difficult decision to close the campsite and move on.

However, every cloud has a silver lining.

With the help of a local employment center, I returned to school and completed a diploma in Tourism Management. The program gave me invaluable insights into the intricacies of running a business, and it inspired me to create Pegasus Tourism Management Group.
